I honor your courage in embarking on this healing exploration. My own relationship to time right now is showing me my own apprehension to do the same. Thanks to you for sharing as you go and as I gather myself to do something similar.
I hear you on the apprehension. It's so wonderful though to not feel alone in the uncovering. We truly do need each other. Even if our dingy's are in different waters, there's something comforting about being able to wave at each other. 👋🏽
so beautiful my friend! Your grandma sounds amazing!!! I was blessed with a good one too (my white grandma). I'm so glad she's with you in the wind reminding you to remember the love! Looking forward to learning more about ancestral healing from you!
one of my favorite pieces you’ve written, kels. the honesty. the way you turn and face the complicated truth of who you are. and the expansive and wise heart to hold all of it. wishing you all the support you might need as you continue on this exploration. in keeping with your dingy in the water vibez — bon voyage!
That's so nice Mo! Thank you. I hope that in telling my truth it supports others to feel ok with their own complicated family history. Thank you for supporting my little boat.
The FAMO TREE be Hella Interesting tho. Imma Black JEW. And white Jews would hear this or find it out and COULD NOT BELIEVE It--and thus FEEL SUM KINDA WAY!! This was in the 70s, so peeps rarely heard of a BLACK JEW. I caught hell 4 it. Still Do cuz Im not a ZIONIST Jew tho.
May U keep opening minds.
And thanks for the Honorable Mention. I'm Grateful.
I really appreciate this reflection. I hadn't thought of it this way but now that you've named it, I'm claiming it. I'm fearless! Whew feels good. Thank you also for sharing more of your identity. The boxes we're meant to contort to really don't like it when we don't fit. Glad to have you here.
Wonderful writing. My grandma lived to be 100 and there are so many things I wish I'd asked her.
She has a special place in my heart and on my altar. Your grandma would be so pleased with your memories. And how to do some kind of alchemy about ancestors...best to you as you ride those wave.
I can relate to this on many levels. There are so many questions I wish I'd asked my grandmothers. But sit on my altar as well. I do feel them still with me and that is such a gift.
Beautiful reflections, Kelsey, thank you for sharing your path with your ancestors. And all the juicy, tender influences from the week. I saved my grandmother’s face powder and I open the container every now and then to catch her scent. ❤️
Thank you Anne-Marie. I love imagining the smell of your grandmother's face powder. Of all the senses, smell I find the most powerful for taking me back somewhere.
Cheering you on! 🖤🙏🏼
Thanks Danny!

Our journeys as mixed / multiracial people are so complex. I’m always hungry for more conversations about it. Thank you for this!
Me too! Thank you for hopping in. Also are you familiar with the sub Mixed Messages. Lots of great content there as well.
I’m not, will check it out, thanks!
